SCV Community Court
Created in 2009, the Santa Clarita Community Court is a juvenile traffic court that emphasizes safety on the roads by having the judge spend more time talking with each traffic offender. Similar to Teen Court, Community Court requires community service and essay writing from person regarding their specific offense. The program also requires attendance at a traffic school. Besides creating good drivers , the primary benefit of the program is that to no points will be attached to the offender’s Department of Motor Vehicles driving record. In addition to traffic offenses, Community Court also handles curfew and truancy violations. The program is administered by the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Department, City of Santa Clarita staff and volunteers.
